History

1999 Dongfang Kaiqi Electric Co., Ltd, the pioneer company of China’s MV VFD industry, was inaugurated. 

 The design of our 1st generation of VFDs was completed, and it rolled off production line for the first time. It is also a significant milestone in the history of energy conversion industry of China.

2000 In April, our first VFD was installed and commissioned successfully at Chengdu Seamless Steel Pipe Co., and it is also the first domestic VFD application for industrial use in China.

 In July, we deployed a VFD at Siping Thermal Power Plant. It is the first VFD  application in the thermal power industry in China.

 In September, the 2nd generation of VFDs was successfully completed.
  
 In November, we provided one set of VFD for high-pressure water injection pump  application to Dagang Oilfield. It sets the record for the highest 1000kVA capacity amongst all domestic VFDs.

 In the same month, our 2nd generation of VFDs took for the first time electromagnetic compatibility test of the master control system, and passed the tests of Safety and EMC Testing Center of Electronic Industry (Straight A for all performance criteria).

2001 In August, the company was relocated to the newly built facility on Tianlang Road, Chengdu.

2002 We were certified to the ISO 9001 quality management system.

 In August, we originated the power cell bypass technology to ensure reliable and continuous operation of the VFDs in case of power cell’s failure. This invention was well recognized and patented.   

 In October, the 3rd generation of VFDs was designed and delivered.

 In December, the first 10KV VFD was successfully put into commissioning in Tianjin Taida (now Tianjin Binhai).

2004 In August, we added instantaneous stop and restart function to our drives. This invention significantly reduces the loss caused by the driving system’s instantaneous stop because of the power failures. This technology was patented as well.

 On Nov.28, the joint-venture company of Dongfang Hitachi (Chengdu) Electrical Control  Equipment CO., LTD, was officially founded.

2005 The first HI series VFD was installed at Baotou Steel Co. Ltd.

2006 In August, a rapid brake unit was developed for the special application of MV VFD in steel works. This braking technology is one of DHC’s patents.

 In November the 4th generation inverters came out and finished all functions  and routine tests; it rolled off production line in the same month.

2007 The development of 4th generation of DI series VFDs was completed. Starting from 2004, a series of important patents were invented in the key areas of control algorithm, software & hardware control platform, main circuit design, ventilation and heat dispersion technology etc.

2008 The wind current converter product was successfully developed, and a pilot project was deployed at a wind farm.

2009 To meet the requirements of soft-starting and operating mode switching, we developed and patented our synchronous grid-connection technology. This invention provides our customers a solution for ease of installation, commissioning, and maintenance.

2010 We started research on VFD application at water-feed pumps in thermal power plant. In March, our frequency conversion retrofit project, implemented on a 6000KVA water-feed pump at Fujian Meizhouwan Pacific Thermal Power Plant (300MW), was completed with great success. It’s the first-of-its-kind project in China.

 In June, DHC was awarded again as the Top 10 VFD Brands in China

2011 In January, our PV inverters were TUV certified.

 In February, the first domestic frequency conversion retrofit project, implemented on a blower at Shanghai Waigaoqiao Thermal Power Plant II (1000MW), was completed. It sets the record of this kind of application in the China VFD industry.

 In May, our MV VFD DI series was CE certified.

 In October, a breakthrough retrofit project in the China VFD industry was implemented on a water-feed pump with hydraulic coupler at Datang Shuangyasha Thermal Power Plant (200MW). Our patented technology dedicated to this type of application was applied in this project, and the energy-saving rate is as high as 21%.

2012 With the growth of the company, we confidently extended our business scope, and provide turnkey solutions to our customers to meet their various needs in energy conversion.  In May 2012, we implemented a 9750KVA/10KV VFD at a 450 m2 sintering machine at TISCO, providing a series of solutions including LV and MV power distribution, excitation system, and host computer etc. As the result, more than 90,000 KWH of electricity is saved each day, and the saving rate is over 20%.

 In July, DHC was awarded again as the Top 10 VFD Brands in China, and also as the Best VFD Designer of 2012 in November.

2013 In February, our PV Combiner Box was certified to CQC.
 
 In November, the 6MVar STATCOM product was installed at Hongdunzi PV Plant.

 In the same month, our 500KW PV inverter was awarded as The Top 10 Innovative PV Inverter of the year with our invention of multiple MPPT technology.

2014 In February, our new product of Co-phase Power Compensation Converters was installed at Changzhi railway power substation. It is the first-of-its-kind application in the railway power system in China, and reported by CCTV as technology breakthrough news.
 
 In the same month, we completed the frequency conversion retrofit on an induced draft fan at Shanghai Caojing Power Plant (1000MW). It is once again a pioneering project at this scale in China’s VFD industry.
 
 In March, we were certified to the ISO24001 and ISO28001

 In May, our STATCOM product was approved as Leading Technology in China by Science & Technology Bureau of Sichuan Province.

 In September, DHC was awarded as the Most Innovative Technological Enterprise of 2014 by the Photovoltaic International Industry Union of China.
